The Threads app was launched in 2023 as a Twitter rival (now X) and became very popular in its initial months. However, the app lacks many features that users consider essential and they have been demanding many of these for a long time. One such feature is the “Bookmark Feature” that allows users to save posts and reels on Instagram. Now, threads have revealed that the app has started testing the bookmark feature for their app. Notably, after an initial surge of 100 million and then an equally surprising fall, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed that the Threads app has gained over 130 million active users and hopes it can become another one of its billion-user platform. Check out what Meta Platforms has planned for the Threads app.
The Threads app gets a bookmark feature
According to a post by Instagram head Adam Mosseri on Threads, the newly launched app will get an Instagram-like bookmark feature for saving posts on the platform. Mosseri said they've started testing a “heavily requested” feature that bookmarks posts in the Threads app. It has been highlighted that the feature is already being tested with limited users. In the post, she said, “Bookmark your favorite posts and revisit them later, just like you can on Instagram.”

Mosseri requested more user feedback on other new features they wanted in the Threads app. Engadget reports that Threads' “Save” bookmark button will look similar to Instagram's save button.
Users can access bookmarked posts by going to the app settings and then navigating to the “Save” tab.
“We will continue to listen to community feedback to improve the Threads experience,” Engadget quoted a Meta spokesperson as saying.
In recent months, Threads has received various tweaks such as searchable tags and now with a save button, the app looks more organized to the user. However, it is still not certain whether the app will announce a direct message feature just as X has added the feature to its microblogging application.
